Sports Equipment - generalGolf clubs, surfboards, windsurfers and hand gliders are permitted on Thomson Airways & First Choice Airways with prior arrangement only as there is a restriction on the amount of oversize equipment that can be accommodated. Prices for carriage of these oversize items start at £15 or currency equivalent for each item of equipment per flight. The sports equipment must be securely and suitably packed and it is recommended that zipper type compartments are padlocked. Passengers are advised to have insurance cover for the replacement value of all their sports equipment. Golf ClubsThe transport of individual golf clubs as hand baggage is not permitted and if passengers wish to carry just one or two clubs, Thomson Airways & First Choice Airways recommend that they are protected in a padded box for carriage in the hold of the aircraft. Golf clubs must be securely and suitably packed.
BicyclesPassengers must use a bicycle bag with padding for added protection and handlebars must be turned inwards, pedals removed, tyres deflated and the bicycle must be wrapped in plastic or cardboard.
Ski EquipmentSki equipment including ski’s, boots, sticks and snowboards are permitted however ski carriage will only include 1 set of skis and 1 set of poles. Package holiday passengers should contact their tour operator to pre-book the carriage of ski equipment. Flight only passengers can contact Thomson Airways & First Choice Airways directly.
Up to an additional 5kg of hold baggage is permitted upon production of a PADI or Diving Certificate and is with prior arrangement only.
Please note: passengers travelling on a package holiday booked through Thomson Airways & First Choice Airways (flying with the Thomson Airways airline), must book carriage of sports equipment 2 - 3 months before departure. Please check confirmation email or ticket reference - if the flight reference number is all digits (no letters), passengers will also be required to pre-book sports equipment 2 - 3 months prior to departure.

Only passengers supporting an approved ‘Diabetic Doctors letter’ will be able to carry Hypodermic Syringes in their hand luggage and with advance notice only. Passengers with an existing medical condition that require oxygen treatment are able to purchase Supplementary Therapeutic Oxygen for their flight. The carriage of stretchers on board is only allowed on certain aircraft and they are not permitted on board services from Bournemouth, Coventry and Doncaster.
Wheelchairs are permitted free of charge on Thomson Airways & First Choice Airways in addition to main baggage allowance by prior arrangement only. The wheelchair will be stored in the hold of the aircraft as checked luggage.
If a passenger is unable to sit in the aircraft seat because the seat is too small (41.5 cm internal width), another seat must be purchased with prior arrangement.
For uncomplicated single pregnancies, return travel must be completed by: Shorthaul: 36 weeks Longhaul: 34 weeks Multiple pregnancy: 32 weeks From the 28th week Thomson Airways & First Choice Airways require pregnant passengers to carry a medical certificate from the doctor or midwife, stating the date of confinement pregnancy is uncomplicated and provide a ‘fit to fly’ letter.
Passengers with a leg in full plaster or with legs that cannot bend must purchase two extra seats to enable them to sit sideways and these seats must be booked via our Call Centre.

Baggage Policy for passengers on an Inclusive TourPassengers traveling with Thomson Airways & First Choice Airways as part of an inclusive holiday must refer to the baggage allowance set by their Tour Operator, which can normally be found in the brochure, or on the ticket.
Passengers wishing to travel with ashes are required to carry them throughout the duration of the flight on your lap and will need to present the death certificate at check-in and at customs. Passengers should also be prepared for customs to inspect the ashes. Ashes may be carried with prior arrangement only by calling 01784 425300.
Pushchairs can normally be used until passengers get to the gate, where it will be put into the hold of the aircraft, however, check with ground staff on check-in. The carriage of pushchairs and car seats is free of charge. Collapsible pushchairs and infant car seats are also permitted in the hold.
Charity BaggageThomson Airways & First Choice Airways carry baggage for charities, however a letter is required, on the charity's letter-headed paper (which must include the registered charity number) to be faxed. The excess baggage service is subject to availability and is with prior arrangement only and no later than 3 days prior to departure. It can be purchased during the online process, or contact 0844 871 0872 (Thomson holidays), or 0871 231 4869 (Thomson Airways). This service is only applicable to passengers travelling with Thomson, and does not if passengers are to travel with another airline.

Cargo servicesFor general cargo enquiries, to book animals, oversized, bulky or unusual items of baggage as cargo, please contact Thomson Airways & First Choice Airways on 01784 425300. Any one piece of luggage must not exceed 32kg as this exceeds the recommended guidelines for airport baggage handlers to lift.
Musical InstrumentsSmaller items may be carried as hand baggage and must be within the hand baggage dimensions of 55x40x20cm. If the instrument is too big or bulky to fit in the overhead locker it must go into the hold at a charge per item, per flight. Mark fragile items clearly and advise check-in to handle it with care.
